October 27, 2021 by Merrell Readman
Celine Dion took to social media last week to share news that she will be postponing the opening of her Las Vegas show due to “unforeseen medical symptoms.” Posting a press release on Instagram, Dion shared that she was “heartbroken” about having to delay the opening of the show, offering refunds on early shows she was forced to cancel after struggling with muscle spasms.
The press release read, “Celine has been experiencing severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing. Her medical team continues to evaluate and treat her. However, the symptoms she is experiencing are prohibiting her from participating in the ongoing rehearsals for the new show.”
After detailing information about ticket refunds and later performances, Dion wrote in her Instagram caption, “I’m heartbroken by this. My team and I have been working on our new show for the past eight months, and to not be able to open this November saddens me beyond words.”
The 53-year-old singer also added, “I’m especially sorry for disappointing all the fans who’ve been making their plans to come to Las Vegas. Now, I have to focus on getting better… I want to get through this as soon as I can.”
While fans and friends were heartbroken by the news, they quickly flooded Instagram with well wishes for the Grammy winner. Katy Perry wrote in the comments, “Sending you love and healing vibes,” while another fan added, “Take care of yourself Celine.”
Although it is unclear when the singer will return to the Vegas stage, it’s safe to say her health should be at the forefront of her concern. However, she did reveal that her “Courage World Tour” is still scheduled to begin on March 9, 2022.
