Céline Dion made the comeback of all comebacks when she closed the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony in Paris on Friday, July 26th with a spectacular performance that will no doubt go down in history.
The 56-year-old Grammy-winner returned to the stage for the first time in four years – and the first time since revealing the heartbreaking news that she had been diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder Stiff Person Syndrome. And although both she and older sister Claudette Dion had previously told fans that her voice had changed as a result of battling Stiff Person Syndrome, she still delivered the most incredible performance that rendered fans completely speechless!
Wearing a show-stopping sparkly white long-sleeved gown, the Canadian superstar delivered a powerful and emotional rendition of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne de l’Amour (Hymn To Love)” from the Eiffel Tower after the lighting of the torch.
Most of the “My Heart Will Go On” singer’s fans feared they would never see her deliver such a performance since she revealed her diagnosis – especially after it was revealed that her voice was changing. However, Dion always stated that she was determined to fight the condition, and she opened up about the treatment she was getting for her voice last month.
