Celine Dion’s younger sister just revealed that the “Courage” singer is in “good spirits” despite announcing that she couldn’t go ahead with her new Las Vegas residency due to “medical reasons.” Last month, the 53-year-old Grammy-winner revealed that she was suffering from “severe and persistent muscle spasms” which were “preventing” her from performing, and therefore had to postpone the residency, which was due to begin this month, to next year. However, Claudette Dion reassured fans that her sister’s problems aren’t “that serious” in a frank and honest update to the French magazine, Voici.
Celine Dion's Sister Discusses The Singer's Health Status
"What's happening to her is sad," Claudette told the mag. "But it's not serious, otherwise she would have told me. Celine always confides in me and asks for advice when something is wrong. I know she’s in good spirits." The "My Heart Will Go On" singer took to Instagram on October 19th to share a statement about the residency being postponed until March 2022. She also posted an emotional and heartfelt caption alongside it, which read: "I'm heartbroken by this. My team and I have been working on our new show for the past eight months, and to not be able to open this November saddens me beyond words."
"My partners at Resorts World Las Vegas and AEG have been working around the clock to get this brand-new state-of-the-art theatre ready, and it's absolutely beautiful," Dion continued. "I feel so bad that I'm letting them down, and I’m especially sorry for disappointing all the fans who’ve been making their plans to come to Las Vegas. Now, I have to focus on getting better… I want to get through this as soon as I can. - Celine xx…"
The "Imperfections" singer's fans were nothing but understanding, sending lots of supportive messages such as, "Get well soon Celine! We will be ready when you are," "Wishing you a speedy recovery," followed by a black heart emoji, and "Take care of YOU." Another fan wrote, "All that matters is that you get better. X," followed by a red heart emoji, while another fan said they were "Sending so much love, light, and healing energy your way," finished off with another red heart emoji.
Celine Dion Planning A ‘Miracle Comeback’ In 2024 After Canceling Shows
But, Celine won't let an incurable disease hold her back as sources close to the singer reveal that she is plotting a "miracle comeback" to honor her late husband and manager, René Angeli.
"Celine was a poor girl from a poor family in Quebec when René took her under his wing and vowed he’d make her a superstar," the source revealed. "She knows if René was still here, he would be pushing her not to give up, to fight this head-on and reclaim her career."
The sick "To Love You More" singer was forced to cancel her Las Vegas residency and massive 2023 world tour after being diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome—which is an extremely rare neurological disorder that causes uncontrollable muscle spasms and rigidity.
Celine told fans she had "a great team of doctors working alongside me to help me get better" and her "precious children" are supporting her and giving her hope. Another source believes that the performer is dedicated to overcoming the condition. She is taking inspiration from her fond memories of René, who died of throat cancer in 2016. But, her close inner circle is worried that she may be pushing herself too hard. Here's hoping Celine will be touring soon!
