Charlize Theron doesn’t need a man to be happy and she is standing by that.
The 45-year-old actress is more than content with her single life and raising her two daughters August, 5, and Jackson, 8.
Charlize recently sat down for an interview with fashion legend Diane von Furstenberg for the season finale episode of Diane’s podcast InCharge. The mom-of-two opened up about her powerful experience with motherhood and didn’t hold anything back.
The Bombshell actress shared a recent moment with her daughters and how August was pushing for Charlize to get a boyfriend.
“Two days ago I was in the car with my two girls and my little one said something like, ‘You need a boyfriend!’ And I said, ‘Actually, I don’t. Right now, I feel really good,’ and she’s like ‘But, you know what, Mom? I just like, you need a boyfriend, you need like a relationship.’ And I was like, ‘I am in a relationship. I’m in a relationship with myself right now,” Charlize said in the interview, E! News reported.
Charlize further revealed how important the empowering lesson was for her daughters. “She had this look on her eye like she had never really contemplated that that was even a possibility and I said, ‘That is a really important thing for you guys to know.”
The Oscar-winning leading lady is no stranger to empowering her daughters and encouraging them to live as their true authentic selves. Charlize has raised and embraced her transgender child Jackson, who was born a male, as a girl.
In an interview with Pride Source, Charlize explained that Jackson’s story is one for Jackson to tell herself, and as her mom, she will let the world know to use the right pronouns for Jackson.
“I think it became harder for us the older she got that people were still writing about her in the wrong pronouns, and also I was still talking about her in the press using the wrong pronoun. It really hurt her feelings,” Charlize revealed.
Charlize has been more open about her daughter’s identity ever since she told the Daily Mail in April 2019 that Jackson said “I am not a boy!” at three years old.
