The 93rd Academy Awards, aka the Oscars, is happening this weekend–and after a long cold red carpet draught thanks to Covid, let’s just say that we are pretty excited about the show. While some will be on the edge of their seats waiting to see if “Nomadland” takes home the award for Best Picture, we’ll be laser focused on what presenters like Reese Witherspoon and nominees like Vanessa Kirby will be wearing.
Since it’s a few hours away and we don’t yet know what these ladies, as well as Halle Berry, Viola Davis and others will be donning for the ceremony, let’s take a trip down memory lane to some of our favorite Oscar looks of all time. And that list wouldn’t be complete without Charlize Theron’s sparkly Gucci gown from the 2004 awards show. We have CHILLS just thinking about it.
It was the year that the “Monster” actress took home the statue for “Best Actress”–aka HUGE year for her career. The superstar opted for a spaghetti strap, body-hugging glittery gown from the Italian fashion house. At the time, Tom Ford was still the creative director of the brand, and let’s be honest–it doesn’t get ANY better than Tom Ford for Gucci.

Jaws, including ours, dropped when the 41-year-old beauty stepped on the red carpet in this history-making dress that also featured a front slit and a mid-length train. Charlize, who had recently returned from a trip to Brazil, had a golden glow to her. She complimented her tanned skin with minimal makeup (that she did herself!). All hail Queen Charlize!
