Fast food is more expensive than ever—and this is especially true of Chick-fil-A. According to Fox News, a recent report shows that the beloved chicken restaurant’s sandwich prices have increased 21% in the past two years. Yikes!
Rising fast food prices are a common complaint amongst consumers as of late. Many are enraged by “shrinkflation,” the phenomenon of smaller portion sizes and lower quality food combined with higher price tags. Although restaurants like Taco Bell and McDonald’s are often criticized for this issue, it seems like Chick-fil-A customers are also victim to skyrocketing prices, and many aren’t happy about it. Find all the details below.
Chick-fil-A Prices Skyrocket
Chick-fil-A is well-known for their tasty milkshakes, incredible customer service, and, of course, those delicious, juicy chicken sandwiches. However, people now have to shell out more money than ever to pay for a meal from the fast food giant. In fact, according to data from Food Truck Empire, a Chick-fil-A sandwich now costs 21% more than it did two years ago.
That's right: A year ago, in January of 2023, Chick-fil-A implemented a 6% price increase on all menu items. The previous year, their signature sandwich increased in price by 15%. That means your favorite chicken sandwich is now significantly pricier than it was just two years ago.
Although CEO and founder of consulting firm Axxeum Partners, Aaron Anderson, cited rising costs of ingredients, packaging, and transportation as the root cause of this issue in Newsweek, many customers find the price tag unacceptable.
"It’s not inflation! Chick-fil-A is raising their prices because they can and because of corporate greed!" one person wrote on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
"Chick-fil-A raising their prices 20% is a prime example of inflation driven by corporate greed not economic policy," another poster echoed.
What do you think? Can we chalk it up to inevitable inflation, or is there something more at play? And will you still be enjoying those chicken sandwiches regardless?
