There’s no denying that prices of just about everything have been through the roof lately due to inflation. From Taco Bell burritos to groceries, we’ve all been having to shell out a bit more money on food. But would you pay $23 for a Chipotle veggie bowl? One TikTok user says that’s exactly what she had to do.
TikTok user @cocochaaniel (a.k.a. CoCo) had a simple request when she ordered her to-go veggie bowl: She wanted the cold ingredients to be packaged separately. This way, they would still be fresh when she got home, and she could add them to her bowl herself. Imagine her surprise when her total came to a whopping $23.55, as opposed to the $9 a veggie bowl typically costs. Even considering the chains recent price increase, this is pretty mind-blowing.

“Whoever the dude was must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed,” CoCo stated in her TikTok expressing annoyance over the event. What happened here? As it turns out, the cashier charged her for five separate sides in addition to her bowl.
“You mean to tell me you’re going to charge me for sides because I don’t like cold sides on my bowl? I don’t like the cold on my bowl, I like to put it on after, so you’re going to charge me? Do you know how many times I go to Chipotle? You know how many videos I’ve made about Chipotle and y’all wanna do this to me?!” she said.
“I don’t even have meat in my bowl, so for my total to come to $23.55 is absurd,” CoCo ranted, noting that the cashier also had an attitude despite the fact that no one was in line behind her.
“You should be fired,” the TikToker concluded after showing that she stole salt, pepper, and hot sauce from the store.
It seems this is a common occurrence.
"They did me the same way they charged me for extra sour cream, tomatoes, and corn," one commenter chimed in.
"That's what they did to me and my mom. They charged us for sides when they aren't sides they're toppings," another echoed.
One user claiming to work at the chain said that they're told to charge for sides: "Just doing our jobs."
As this follows complains of quality issues with chips, Chipotle customers haven't been too happy with the chain lately.
What do you think? Is this an acceptable price for asking for toppings on the side, or was the cashier out of line? Let us know in the comments!
