Chrissy Metz Reveals She's Been 'Consistent' With Strength Training To Lose Weight In New Interview

The Florida native first rose to fame in 2016 when she took on the role of Kate Pearson in the hit drama series, This Is Us. Her performance on the popular show, which followed the lives of a couple and their three children through different periods, earned her several award nominations, including one for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Chrissy is a notable plus-size actress and singer in Hollywood who has often been praised for her realistic representation of dealing with the backlash that can come with being heavy on the hit drama series.

However, she also had to put up with a lot of cyber-bullying, which she has detailed in several interviews and her autobiographical novel, "This Is Me." Since gaining popularity, the actress has been working to get healthier and strengthen her body, and has reportedly managed to lose an astonishing 100 lbs.

In a new interview with the Daily Mail, she revealed that one of the ways she was able to drop some of her weight was through "consistent" strength training, which has motivated her to get stronger as she ages.

"I have always enjoyed strength training," said Chrissy.

"I've always enjoyed lifting weights, like I don't want to run unless I'm being chased."

The children's author also mentioned that she's been using the help of a trainer, who works with her in Nashville, where she currently lives. She said she and her trainer have things in common and use positivity rather than intensity to get through workouts.

"I want to be lovingly supported in whatever it is that I'm doing," she added.

Although she's dealt with her fair share of bullying due to her size, the 44-year-old revealed her health journey is more focused on getting stronger and healthier as she ages rather than how she looks, being nervous about conditions like arthritis and osteoporosis.

"I want to age the best way that I can, and I want to be strong," she mentioned.

Chrissy Weighs In On Taking Ozempic And Other Weight Loss Drugs

When the Masked Singer alum was asked about her feelings on celebrities taking Ozempic and other popular weight loss drugs to get slimmer in her new interview, she had a very interesting answer that didn't quite lean one way or the other.

She stressed the importance of how "personal" the decision to take weight loss drugs is and said she thinks it's crucial to "destigmatize" the experience.

"I also think it's people's personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body," she continued.

"I think ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves."

She, a body positivity advocate, also said that if people aren't hurting themselves or others, they should be free to do whatever they want with their minds and bodies.

Similarly to how she's been staying optimistic and transparent with her feelings regarding her weight loss journey, Chrissy is now encouraging kids to express their feelings through faith with her new book, "When I Talk To God, I Talk About Feelings," which was published on April 8th, 2025.
