Cindy Crawford, the iconic supermodel from the ’90s that’s still rocking it today, isn’t just basking in her own modeling glory; she’s passing down the modeling wisdom to her 22-year-old daughter, Kaia Gerber. The glamorous mother-daughter duo took the 2023 National Book Awards by storm, turning it into a chic rendezvous while showcasing the timeless style courtesy of Ralph Lauren.
Kaia redefined winter chic with a mocha brown strapless floor-length dress, accentuated by a sleek dark leather black band. Meanwhile, Crawford kept it utterly classic, donning a sharp white three-set power suit, complemented by silver strap heels, a chic white clutch bag, and the timeless sparkle of a diamond tennis necklace. Fashion and elegance truly run in the family!
Cindy Crawford & Kaia Gerber Talk About Generational Gifts
Speaking to PEOPLE recently at the Planet OMEGA exhibition in New York City, Kaia was asked: “If you got to choose one thing out of fashion icon Cindy Crawford's closet, what would it be?”
Before Kaia could make her selection, her mom playfully spilled the beans on what she'd eagerly offer up if the decision were in her hands.
"You know what I think that I would give you? So for my 20th anniversary, my husband gave me three eternity rings. One [eternity ring] was to represent him, one was to represent Kaia and one was to represent Presley [Gerber]," the proud mother of two said. “I would give those to her.”
But, she made it crystal clear that her engagement ring was absolutely off the table, non-negotiable.
“I wouldn't give her my engagement ring because probably whoever proposes to you, you'll want to choose the ring, even though that is a special piece as well," Crawford said, to which Kaia admitted: “I'll take the eternity ring."
Cindy Crawford & Kaia Gerber Talk About Quality Time
Crawford and Gerber proudly represent OMEGA as its global ambassadors. While the dynamic duo occasionally joins forces for collaborations, they also ensure to carve out time for each other when they're off the clock.
They each opened up to PEOPLE about what bonding looks like for them these days amid their respectively busy schedules in the fashion industry mainstays.
"I do feel like we've established a really strong bond and friendship outside of just a mother-daughter dynamic, which has been so fun for me over the last few years," Gerber tells PEOPLE from the exhibition on Nov. 14.
They both share a lot of common interests with each other such as theater, reading books, and going to Burning Man together.
"She is a cool mom and she still embarrasses me constantly," Gerber revealed. "But it's good! It brings me back down to earth...I probably embarrass her constantly as well."
