Coach Is Changing Its Name & People Are Not Happy About It

October 12, 2017 by Samantha Peters

Just when you thought your day was going well, Coach dropped a huge bombshell that probably left you speechless. The luxury accesory brand just anounced that it will be changing its well-known monicker to Tapesty - and people can hardly belive it.

The change marks the company's efforts to better incorporate all of the brands it owns, namely new additions Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman. According to CEO Victor Luis, the name Tapesty is more inclusive.

"Each of our brands has a unique proposition, fulfilling different fashion sensibilities and emotional needs," Luis said in a press statement. "We searched for a name to reflect these values while also expressing the cultural diversity of our people and our brands for today and tomorrow."

Luis also said that the company is now targeting younger shoppers who may have felt alienated by the brand's traditionally "high-end" aesthetic.

So what does all this mean for your favorite Coach items? Don't worry, Coach bags won't be affected by the change. But we can only hope that any new launches won't look as dated as the new name suggests.

The brand's website will officially reflect the change starting Oct. 31. In the meantime, you can check Twitter to find some amazing reactions to the news that may just ease your pain. RIP Coach.
