If you’re hoping for Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson to announce their engagement, it’s looking like you’ll have to wait. Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, Simpson spoke about their relationship and gave some major insight into what their future together might look like.
The couple who started dating in October 2019 have been very public about their relationship, leading some to think that a proposal might be coming up.
According to Simpson, however, weddings are not really on their minds. He explained, "I believe in marriage but haven’t thought too much about that."
Part of his reasoning? His age. Simpson is 23, four years younger than Cyrus. He explained: “I am far too young to consider it, to be honest. I just continue to surround myself with positive women who inspire me and teach me new things every day."
Although the couple might not be ready for that step, they definitely seem serious. In the interview, Simpson gushed over his girlfriend. He said, "Being with Miley is a wonderful thing in my life. She is creative and inspiring, fiercely independent and encourages me to be my own person, too. We are both creative individuals who support one another with our work."
Simpson also admitted to Cyrus inspiring a lot of his creative work: "Miley also inspires my art. There’s some romance in the poems I have written and yeah, they might be about her. It’s inevitable that what happens in my private life comes out in my work."
Miley Cyrus was previously married to longtime boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. The couple's divorce was finalized this January.
