If you are concerned with hair breakage, taking a closer look at your shampoo is an important first step in finding a solution. Specifically, although it may be tempting to go for a thickening shampoo, its probably best to stay away.

Keep reading to find out why you should avoid these thickening shampoos!

Thickening Shampoo

Thickening shampoos are formulated with certain ingredients that are designed to stick to your hair, making it appear thicker. However, this could expedite rather than prevent hair loss.

Dr. Wolfeld, a plastic surgeon who specializes in hair loss and restoration, explains,"It’s clear that inflammation triggers hair loss. Furthermore, it makes sense that shampoos that deposit residues on the scalp may interfere with hair growth and cause inflammation. As a precaution, I recommend avoiding them.”

With that in mind, instead of opting for a thickening shampoo, look for one that focuses on scalp health--which can improve overall hair health by preventing any blockage that could stop hair growth.
