Let’s be honest, sometimes you just don’t feel like wearing flats. Those days may be few and far between, but when they come along, you need a super comfortable pair of heels to give you the best of both worlds – comfort and style. Contrary to popular belief, I promise comfortable heels for work is not an oxymoron. Long gone are the days where five-inch stilettos are the go-to best heels for work. Not only can high heels actually damage your feet, they’re also so freaking uncomfortable. Believe me, I spent my college years in them. Luckily, if you’re in search of the most comfy heels for work, there are tons of new styles of shoes that are not only appropriate for the office, but they also look chic too. In this case, you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort.

When searching for comfortable work heels, you need to shop smarter not harder. Sure, strappy heels may look great while heading to brunch on the weekends but do you really want to be commuting back and forth to the printer with wobbly ankles? I didn’t think so. Here’s my guide for what to look for when you’re #ISO the most comfortable work heels:

1. Heel Height

I used to be such a fan of five-inch heels for the supermodel height it gave me. But unfortunately, years and years of dance plus wearing high heels has left my high arches in search of more comfortable shoes. Considering I like to walk to work and often have events after work, I always look for a shoe that’s closer to a two-inch height.

2. Material

There’s a reason we as adults tend to invest in quality material items. They LAST longer. Plain and simple.

3. Heel Thickness

When the idea of a heel comes to mind, I immediately jump to the traumatizing vision of walking in the grass and getting my pencil heel stuck in the mud. Luckily, block heels are back in fashion and not only do they provide you with more support, they also provide major comfort.

With all this in mind, I found the PERFECT pair of work heels. Not only do these shoes look nearly identical to the Chanel slingbacks that bloggers are obsessed with, they also come at a fraction of the price. To top it off, they’re even 30% off right now! I can’t tell you how obsessed with these shoes I am. They’re by far the most comfortable work heels I’ve ever owned. Need a second opinion? One shopper RAVED about this classic yet chic shoe:

“I’ve been wearing Ivanka’s shoes for a number of years now and am glad to see that Macy’s is among the few retailers that sell this brand (though I would love to see them in stores). I own this style in nearly all styles/colors – the two tweed versions, along with the pink/white cap toe are the latest additions to my collection. For starters, the leather is soft and “gives” making for a comfortable shoe right out of the box. The style is a chic, polished alternative to a stiletto pump and is so understated that it works well with ANY style and can easily transition from the closet of the most classic fashion maven to the most casual, and anyone in between INCLUDING the sporty girl. “Chic” is the watchword here and unlike its Chanel counterpart, the price is comparable. What I also prefer is the rounder toe with slightly squared tip. The Chanel version has a much longer “nose” if you will and for me, brings to mind the dated looking pumps of the 90’s.

The heel height is great for those who are transitioning from flats to heels and vice versa, which is my case. I’ve worn 4.5″ and up heels most of my life and just want to go in a new direction, but don’t want to give up heels entirely and these fit the bill nicely. I must say that these run a bit on the small size – I needed a 7 3/4 size but since they don’t have that size I stuck with my usual 7.5 because I was concerned that once they stretch the 8 might get too large and the strap would slip. Nothing a good cobbler can’t fix, but still….. Also, these ARE bunion friendly and if you have them or have wide feet, going up a half or whole size is advisable (wink).

The sale price was a great motivation to purchase three pairs, however, I must admit I returned both tweed pairs. Both were lovely, but I would have preferred if the bulk of the shoe had been done in suede rather than grosgrain – additionally, the black tweed version has a bit of sparkle in the tweed, which I was not expecting and not so sure that I loved. Both have leather outsoles and offer the same “give” and comfort as the brands full leather styles. Still lovely, well-made shoes just not for me. Shipping was quick, I received everything that I ordered from Macy’s within a week of placing my orders.

Overall I would have to say that if you’re looking for a pump that’s versatile, yet chic and classic, this is the one to buy. If you are just starting out, the Latte version is a great starter shoe due to its neutrality and works well with any and every outfit you can think of. This pump is worthy of being called a closet staple.”

What I most liked about wearing these shoes was that I could easily transition them from day to night and not feel sloppy. They’re also so comfortable that I actually COULD wear them longer than the work day without the need to carry around an extra pair of flats to switch into later. The best part? You can get these in three gorgeous neutral hues so they match everything you wear.
