Experts Say This Is The One Common iPhone Mistake That Makes Charging So Much Slower

Are you left wondering why your iPhone refuses to hold a charge, even after you’ve done your due diligence and have charged it for hours? Charging may seem like the simplest of actions — and it is, of course. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t much more going on behind the scenes that you need to be aware of in order to properly care for your device. A good charge take more than just plugging your phone into a charger and leaving it overnight. It’s equally as important to consider what you’re using to charge your phone and HOW you are actually charging it. Experts say this is the one common iPhone mistake that makes charging so much slower.
Relying On Poor AccessoriesYour iPhone is only as good as the accessories you use to charge it. “I would say that the most basic explanation for why your phone is charging more slowly than usual may have nothing to do with the phone itself,” says Adam Wood, co-founder of RevenueGeeks. “You may have a faulty cord or adapter, or a poor power source. USB cables are frequently subjected to abuse, especially in households with several users and devices. These wires are frequently dropped, bent, stored in areas where temperatures can vary greatly, and even walked upon. Therefore, before attempting anything else, try replacing the cable to see if that resolves the issue. You should also replace the adaptor to determine whether this makes a difference.”
And if you’re continuing to use the same adaptor after purchasing a new phone, Wood recommends thinking twice. “You should utilize the more recent version,” Wood says. “Use only chargers manufactured by trustworthy companies. The best case is the one that came with your phone.”
Charging Your Device In Extreme TemperaturesExtreme temps are your iPhone battery’s mortal enemy. And if you are charging your phone in direct sunlight or a hot room you could be causing it to slowly lose battery power, according to Robert Warner, official member of Forbes Agency Council and head of marketing at VirtualValley.
“Even more catastrophic internal damage or merely a general slowdown are also possible outcomes of this,” Warner says.
