Cookie dough recalled for potential salmonella contamination
29,019 total cases of frozen cookie dough were recalled by The Rise Baking Company on June 6—an expansion of an initial recall on May 2—as part of a Class II recall.
According to the FDA, a class II recall is classified by "a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
In this case, the recalled cookie dough has been pulled from shelves due to the fact that it may contain salmonella, which can lead to serious health complications.
