If you’re eating eggs every morning, you’re already off to a good start. However, just how healthy this breakfast is depend on how you prepare it. Some cooking methods and added ingredients are better for you than others. With that in mind, you’re definitely going to want to keep reading – especially if scrambled eggs are your favorite.
Cooking with butter
Cooking your eggs with a bit of butter will not completely ruin your diet, but it probably won't help it either. Butter is high in calories and fat (saturated fat in particular), which are two nutrients you do not necessarily want to add to your regular breakfast.
So whether you are frying or scrambling your eggs, try cooking with a bit of olive oil instead.
Adding cream
If fluffy scrambled eggs are your favorite, you might be adding cream to achieve that perfect texture. Unfortunately, this could be making your healthy breakfast something else entirely.
According to Food Network, "Much of the fat found in cream comes from saturated fat. Numerous studies have linked too much saturated fat with an increased risk of high cholesterol. And if you regularly go overboard with cream, your waistline will pay the price."
As with almost everything, the best way to keep your food healthy is to keep it as is. Sticking to whole, unprocessed foods as much as possible is a good rule of thumb – and it's possible to do so without sacrificing taste.
Instead, flavor your breakfast with spices and veggies to maintain its health benefits.
