Costco is known for its iconic food court staples like hot dogs, pizza, and churros, but recently, they’ve added a new option to the lineup: a Chicken & Bacon Sandwich. While it sounds tempting, this sandwich is making headlines for more than just its flavor—it’s a hefty 920-calorie indulgence. Plus, priced at $6.99, it’s certainly not winning over the most frugal Costco members (we’ve already seen plenty of complaints about the prices of previous sandwiches). But is the taste worth it? One food writer put it to the test.

This new sandwich has piqued curiosity, and Jennifer Cannon from Eat This, Not That took it upon herself to taste test the sandwich to see if it lives up to the hype in a recent article. Learn more about the sandwich and how it tastes below.

First thing's first: what's exactly on this calorie-packed sandwich? It comes with sliced oven-roasted chicken breast, bacon jam, lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese, and a mayo-mustard blend, all served on ciabatta bread.

Cannon described the sandwich as "hefty and well put together," noting that the ciabatta bread was thick but fresh. "The sandwich consists of a generous amount of chicken, a rather large, but pretty leaf of romaine lettuce, a thin slice of tomato, and two slices of cheddar cheese," she wrote. The sandwich is served cold, which might have been a turnoff for some, but Cannon found the bread to be soft and not tough at all.

The standout ingredient, according to Cannon, was the bacon jam. "The sweetness of the bacon jam, which contains bits of bacon and an appropriate smoky bacon flavor, goes well with the mustard-mayo situation," she noted. The combination of flavors, along with juicy, thinly sliced roasted chicken, created a sandwich that tasted, despite what Redditors may be saying, "dare I say, good. That’s right, I enjoyed it!"

Whether you’re looking for a new fall favorite or just curious about Costco’s latest offering, the Chicken & Bacon Sandwich seems to be a hit for those willing to indulge. While 920 calories might be a lot for one meal, sharing with a friend—or saving half for later—might just make it worth the splurge.
