You Might Want To Brace Yourself For This Major Costco Scandal That Just Leaked–What Is Happening?!

Costco is facing a lawsuit in Florida alleging that the wholesale chain uses recording software to monitor customer’s data on its website. Yikes!

The suit, filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, alleges that the Washington-based-chain violates the Florida Security Communications Act by spying on its online shoppers’ behaviors.

The lawsuit, reported on by Eat This, Not That!, claims the chain does not ask permission before monitoring your data, and that a plaintiff, identified as Jason Goldstein, visited Costco.com give times while in Florida.

During his visits to the site, Costco "utilized tracking, recording and/or 'session replay' software to contemporaneously intercept" his "mouse clicks and movements, information inputted" as well as his location, time and date, and "pages and content viewed."

The court will decide if Florida Security Communications Act applies to a public retail site. In the suit, Goldstein states that Costco didn't disclose their monitoring to him or ask if they could do so, which is an invasion of his privacy. Stay tuned for the verdict on this one!
