First toilet paper–and now meat! The shortages associated with the novel coronavirus have reached your butcher’s aisle.
Closures of slaughterhouses and meat-processing plants are causing a nation-wide meat shortage--and Costco is one of the first stores to take a hit.

The big box store announced via their website that they were changing their store policies, effective immediately until an unspecified end date, to reflect the shortages.
New product limitations are meant to help ensure that more members are able to purchase merchandise that they want and need, like toilet paper, cleaners and now meat, says the company.
What's the new policy? All beef, pork and poultry purchases are temporarily limited to a total of 3 items per member.
In case you missed it, thousands of meat-processing plant workers have contracted COVID-19, with at least 20 deaths, the CDC recently revealed.
President Donald Trump has since ordered meat plants to stay open, and has even vowed to help food chains like Wendy's keep hamburger on the menu, but stores like Costco, Wegmanm ShopRite and Whole Foods are taking the threat of shortages seriously by instigating these policies.
