Costco Is Bringing Back A Discontinued Bakery Item–And The Internet Can’t Handle It
July 8, 2022 by Faith Geiger
Is there anything worse than your favorite item being pulled from a store or restaurant menu? Whether it’s a limited edition flavor of potato chips on the shelves of your go-to grocery store or a seasonal drink at your favorite coffee chain, nothing can replace the hole that’s left in your heart when these must-haves become unavailable—but that just makes their return twice as sweet! That’s exactly the type of joy Costco shoppers are experiencing now that the beloved 68-ounce Key Lime Pies are back. Hallelujah!
These huge pies, which are available for $15.99, made their return late last month—luckily just in time for Fourth of July. Fans of this tasty treat couldn’t contain their excitement over its comeback. One popular Instagram page dedicated to highlighting the membership-based store’s best offerings, @costcobuys, expressed their enthusiasm with a video on June 21:
“Key Lime Pie is BACK at Costco and I’m so excited!” They captioned the reel. “This tastes so good, is made with a butter graham crust, and is the PERFECT summer dessert!”
Followers flooded the comments section with their own praise for this behemoth dessert. “Omg key lime pie is my absolute favorited,” one wrote, complete with a heart eye emoji. Another user tagged their friend and told them “this is how we eat our feelings this week.” We feel you!
One Costco shopper commented on the size (which comes in at an insane 4.25 pounds), saying, “I really wish Costco would do 1/2 pies. We are not a large family and it would be wasteful to buy one.” That’s a fair suggestion—but the warehouse store is known for their bargains on bulk items, after all. Selling smaller portions doesn’t really seem like their style… Guess the only other solution is a pie eating contest. Who’s in?
