Costco is home to a lot of fantastic foods that shoppers swear by for their great taste and prices. However, with so many items on shelves, they can’t all be destined for greatness. And as much as we love Costco, we have to admit that some of the foods at the warehouse are just plain bad. Luckily, Costco members frequently share reviews to warn other shoppers so that they can skip the worst items and save their money.
It seems that this is the case with the Snapdragon Chicken Pad Thai. When one user on the Costco Subreddit took to the website to express their disappointment in this food, many chimed in to agree. Find all of the details below.
Costco Shoppers Call Chicken Pad Thai "Awful"
Who doesn't love some good old Thai food? Chicken pad Thai, in particularly, is one of the most popular Thai dishes out there. If you're a fan of Thai and a Costco shopper, you may be intrigued and delighted to find Snapdragon Chicken Pad Thai on shelves—but shoppers warn that this store-bought option simply can't compare to the real deal you'd find at your favorite restaurant. In fact, it may not compare to any pad Thai anywhere.
"Snap Dragon Pad Thai, don't do it," reads one Reddit post. "We live in the middle of nowhere with no Thai restaurants for 50 miles at least. I was craving Pad Thai and grabbed this at Costco. I knew it wouldn’t be amazing but it was really not good. Even if you are tempted, don’t do it."
And it seems like this user isn't the only person with this opinion. Many chimed in to echo the same sentiment.
"We had to throw it away. It was awful," says one comment. Another replied that it has a "strange rotten taste."
Although not everyone feels as strongly, the general sentiment seems to be that most would not buy it again—and that it doesn't really taste much like pad Thai at all.
"It's not bad as long as you don't know it's supposed to be Pad Thai," one person joked, with someone agreeing: "I don't hate it. It's absolutely not pad thai in any way whatsoever, but whatever it is I don't hate it."
To each their own! But if you're looking for the Thai taste you know and love, you're probably better off going the homemade route or getting takeout. However, some commenters suggested giving the options at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's a shot.
What do you think? Is there a good store-bought pad Thai out there? Have you tried the Snapdragon Pad Thai yourself? And is it as bad as the reviews say? Let us know in the comments!
