Costco is generally known for two things: great prices and great items. However, superfans on Reddit were recently taken aback by the price of one new food item: Korean wings. Many are calling the $37.89 price that was captured in one photo of the product ridiculous. Additionally, the people who did try these wings said that they weren’t all that great, after all. Find all the details on this debacle below.

Customers call Costco Korean wings price "absurd"

The Costco subreddit is a place where shoppers gather to exchange tips, discuss new items and deals on shelves, and, of course, air any grievances (such was the case with the most recent Rotisserie chicken controversy).

One user recently asked if anyone had tried the Korean wings in the store's fresh meat aisle, which they attached a photo of. But rather than leaving reviews of food, most people took to the comments to question the price.

A few people have tried them, a few complained that they've never seen them at their Costco location before, but most shared the same sentiment: that $37.89 price tag is way too steep.

"Not for $40 no! That's insane," one comment says.

"That price is absurd," someone echoed.

Some people chimed in to point out that it seems like the photograph was taken in Canada, where the price would be different than in the United States: "Looks Canadian. $37.89 CAD = $27.75 USD. And $14.99 CAD per kg comes to about $4.98 USD per pound at current exchange rates," someone wrote.

However, as someone else responded, they probably wouldn't spend $28 on chicken wings, either.

And the people who did try this Korean-style chicken mostly gave negative reviews: "They were not good," one comment reads.

"Didn't like it at all," another person wrote.

Luckily, one commenter left some friendly advice for anyone looking to try some Korean chicken without breaking the bank: "Go buy wings, air fry them, and go to your local Korean/Asian market. Buy some Korean bbq sauce and maybe some Gochujang. Toss." We'll definitely give it a try!

Fortunately, not all Costco products are overpriced and underwhelming. In fact, there are typically tons of goodies on shelves at great prices. But this is a reminder that sometimes it's best to stick to the tried-and-true fan favorites—or at least ask Reddit first!
