We all need our hot cup of coffee to entice us out of bed each day, but what most people don’t realize is that this daily habit may be wreaking havoc on your skincare routine. Yep – that’s right, there is one ingredient you might be adding into your coffee that can clog your pores and cause breakouts: coffee creamer.
Non-dairy creamers have become a popular alternative to traditional milks and creams because they can be better on the stomach for many people, and much lower in fat content in some cases. But there's something in these creamers that is destorying your skin: sugar.
Sugar clogs pores, and there is no doubt about it. It breaks down collagen and weakens the immune system, which usuaally prevents bacteria from clogging pores. Eating more sugar can make your skin more susceptible to clogged pores, which ultimately can lead to irritation and acne.
This is why the Dunkin Donuts coffee creamer is the absolute worst one you can drink if you are trying to clog pores - it has one of the highest sugar contents out there.
The Extra Extra creamer contains six grams of sugar per tablespoon. This means that if you put two decent-sized splashes of creamer into your coffee, you're drinking twelve grams of sugar. This is 25% of your daily recommended intake!
