Customers Are Losing It After Subway Quietly Removed Chicken Breast From Menus: ’Why Did Nobody Tell Me’
October 19, 2022 by Marissa Matozzo
Subway recently (and subtly) bid adieu to one of its most delicious protein options— roasted chicken breast. According to The Takeout, the sandwich chain didn’t get rid of its “grilled chicken strips used in the popular Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki and Buffalo Chicken sandwiches, but rather the chicken breast patty.”
As Mashed reported last month, there were rumors that Subway’s Italian herb and cheese bread was also being discontinued, but thankfully for fans, it is not, and this was just due to “temporary supply chain issues.” Within this information, readers could find a link to a Reddit thread in which users revealed their other shocking discovery— that oven roasted chicken breast had disappeared from menus. The user who posted this specific info claims to work at a Subway restaurant in California, and apparently, as The Takeout writes, the “discontinuation happened months ago.”
While the publication indicated that “oven roasted chicken breast is no longer offered” at any of Subway’s locations, the ingredient description can still be found on Subway’s website. Many customers on Twitter have recently taken notice of the oven roasted chicken breast’s unexpected absence from their local Subway’s menu, as seen below:
Subway has apparently not responded to The Takeout‘s request for comment on the matter, and the oldest possible Reddit thread that the writer Dennis Lee could find related to the oven roasted chicken breast’s disappearance dates to approximately one year ago. In a thread titled, “Is Subway No longer selling Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Anymore?” one commenter responded, “Yes and no, it’s no longer a required item, so it’s up to the owner of the Subway if they will be selling it or not.”
(RIP, oven roasted chicken breast).
