Typically, CVS locations remain open on the holiday, and most were in 2019. However, there is nothing typical about 2020, so many people are left wondering if their local CVS will be open over the holiday.
The company has not made any official announcement yet, so it's fair to assume that most stores will be open until they say otherwise.
There is a chance, however, that Covid-19 will impact the holiday schedule (as it has for many other retailers that have remained open throughout the pandemic).
It also could vary from state to state. With that in mind, checking with your CVS location ahead of time is probably the best way to prepare for either scenario.
It would not be surprising for CVS to announce a Thanksgiving closure; the company has made several updates in terms of store policy throughout the pandemic.
Recently, they started requiring customers to wear masks while shopping.
The CVS website explains: "Since the pandemic began, we've done everything we can to keep people safe and healthy. This includes requiring that store employees wear face coverings and encouraging our customers to do so as well. In any community with state or local laws mandating the use of face coverings, we've made that very clear through signage and other reminders."
The statement continued, "With the recent spike in COVID-19 infections, we're joining others in taking the next step and requiring all customers to wear face coverings when entering any of our stores throughout the country effective Monday, July 20. To be clear, we're not asking our store employees to play the role of enforcer. What we are asking is that customers help protect themselves and those around them by listening to the experts and heeding the call to wear a face covering."
