If you have a slow Android, you don’t have to suck it up and deal with it. There are things you can delete from your phone that will make a big difference in its performance and speed. Better still: you won’t miss any of the things we’re about to suggest that you get rid of, so this won’t even seem like a sacrifice.

You already know that deleting TikTok and Facebook will yield better, faster phone results — but we get that not everyone is up for that. So, instead, here are the five things that, once gone, will give you back storage space and tax your phone so much less.

1. Old Photos and Videos

Photos and videos are among the most storage-hungry components on your phone. The only way to truly free up storage is by taking a little time and going through your photos app once and for all. Move anything you want to save over to Google Drive and then delete them from your device. Delete old photos and videos that you have no intention of saving, as well.

2. Pre-Installed Apps

You can disable or uninstall certain pre-installed apps on Android that could be uselessly taking up space and battery power if you don’t use them. Some examples of these apps include Google Play Movies, Google News, Google Duo, Google One, and Samsung apps.

3. Cached Files

Cached data hogs up space and battery power. Get rid of it by going to Settings > Storage > Cached Data > and then tap Ok to clear all cached data.

4. Unused Apps

The same rule applies for apps that you once downloaded, loved (or found useless), and then never used again. Maybe you kept them on your phone just in case you’d want to use them again. But, realistically, will that actually happen? If you haven’t opened an app in six months, it’s safe to say you can delete it.

5. Texts With Attachments

When someone sends you a text with an attachment, you automatically have a larger file that takes up more space on your hands. If you want to keep the message itself, but lose the attachment, there’s a way to do that. Go to the Messages app > select the conversation > find the attachment > tap and hold the attachment > delete the attachment.
