As far as apps and storage go, pre-installed apps are the least of your problems (seriously). If you really want to make a major dent in your storage issues and save space, it pays to focus on games with intense graphics, social media apps, and streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu. But, let’s face it: most of the most storage-hogging apps are the ones you absolutely want to keep. So, what you can do to save a little space is get rid of those pre-installed apps you’ve never used and probably don’t even realize are on your phone.
If you’re all out of ideas about how to save more storage on your phone, consider deleting these four pre-installed apps.
1. Tips
Apple’s Tips app can be helpful one if you’re in need of a few good tricks for how to use your phone more efficiently. But, by this point, if you’ve been a regular iPhone user, you likely have most of your iPhone habits down to a science. The app takes up around 100 to 150 MB of space, which isn’t a great deal, but when every bit helps, it’s a good one to delete.
2. Apple News
Apple News is an app that aggregates news stories for you based on your preferences and what’s trending. It can be helpful — if you prefer getting your news this way. If not — or if you already have a trusted news source — it can take up 200 to 300 MB of storage or more, depending on what you have stored on the app.
3. Apple Health
The Apple Health app only takes up about 30 to 50 MB of storage. If you use it to track your sleep or workouts, this amount will increase, but you can always manage your settings and space in the app by going to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices and deleting old data. If you don’t find any use for the app, you can also delete it altogether.
4. Stocks
Have you never, not once, used the Stocks app to keep track of stock prices and track your own stock purchases? Feel free to delete it and save around 50 to 100 MB of storage.
