What good are apps you never use? Not only are they taking up space on your device, but they’re also consuming battery power and storage — and giving nothing back in return. Some of these rarely used apps are resource-intensive, which means they are taking and taking from your phone. They could be contributing to the slow-down of your device, as well. If you’re in the mood to clean your device up a bit and delete a few apps that many experts consider “useless,” start here – with these four apps you can delete without even missing.
Games
Games can be an amazing distraction. But what often ends up happening is you download a hot game that everyone is talking about for five minutes, play it for a few weeks, and then forget it’s on your device and move on to the next game. Meanwhile, all of those games are taking up storage space and haven’t been updated in a dog’s age, which can pose security risks for you.
Get rid of all of the games you haven’t opened in weeks or months. You won’t miss them — and, if you do, you can always download them again.
Navigation Apps
No one would suggest you delete all of your navigation apps and travel without any assistance at all. But if you have Waze, Google Maps, Scout, Apple Maps, and four more navigation apps because you suspect they all provide slightly different information, you are unnecessarily taxing your phone. Choose one app and roll with it.
Social Media
Similar to navigation apps, social media is here to stay and it’s the rare person who will confidently delete each and every one of these apps. But apps like Facebook, Snapchat, and TikTok are among the most draining on your battery, plus they take up data and storage space. If you can choose one that you like the most and delete the others — or access something like Facebook from your browser — you may notice a big difference in how your phone operates.
Dating Apps
Think about all of the information that you provide dating apps — the personal info, the photos, the locations. Now multiply that info by the number of dating apps you have downloaded and you’ll get a real sense of how much data these collect and how taxing they may be on your device. Got a favorite dating app that rarely lets you down? Perfect — keep it. But delete some of the others for your phone’s benefit.
Deleting some of these apps can improve your phone’s battery power and storage space capabilities, while helping to protect your privacy — it’s a win-win.
