Tech Experts Say You Should Be Deleting These Popular Apps To Make Your iPhone Run Faster

It can be so tempting to download one app after another — after all, that’s the entire point of owning a smartphone. But after awhile, your phone gets overloaded with apps. Some of these apps are notorious for sapping iPhone data and power and leaving your device much more sluggish than it was before you began downloading every app that catches your eye. If your phone is acting strange lately and is taking a longer time to load web pages and work effectively, one of the best immediate actions you can take is to delete a few apps that no longer serve you. Tech Expert David Attard, web Designer at CollectiveRay.com, says deleting these popular apps can make your iPhone run faster.

Start With Unnecessary Files

Yes, deleting the Facebook app will always give back to you — doing so can immediately speed up your phone and make it run better. But before you start with apps that feel like a sacrifice, Attard recommends focusing on files you no longer need. “Deleting unnecessary files is a great way to speed up your iPhone. It may be photos, videos, texts, apps that take up too much space, and cached files,” Attard says. “If you have hundreds of photos and videos, you will want to sync them with iPhoto on your desktop or back them up on iCloud before erasing them on the phone. The more apps you have on your phone, the more bloated it is and slower it’s going to run.”

Attard suggests heading over to Settings>General>Usage to check the amount of space each app is using. “Delete the apps which are taking a lot of space,” Attard says. “Text messages can weigh down the phone’s software. Deleting older text message threads can help keep the phone speedy. Clearing cache on Safari can also help the phone to run smoothly. Go to setting>Safari>Clear history and tap Clear Cookies and Data to clear all the history.”


Once you go through this process and make these changes, check to see if your phone is running to your liking. If not, it may be time to go even harder (which means considering deleting social media and streaming apps, for better or worse).
