With her Dancing with the Devil docuseries out on YouTube and new music in the works, Demi Lovato has been a busy lady in recent months. And it’s this busy lifestyle that has significantly altered her future plans of marriage and raising children, which Lovato opened up about on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience.

On Saturday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Lovato called in to speak on her new docuseries and discuss her future plans with Rogan. When the topic of children came up, the singer shared, “I used to [want to have my own]. I think if anything, I want to adopt, more than anything.”

Lovato went on to discuss her engagement last year to The Young and the Restless star Max Ehrich, which ended in a split in September 2020. “I totally thought that I'd be married, maybe pregnant, by now. And that's not the case ... I know that my life is not going according to my plan,” she said. However, a baby isn’t entirely out of the question in the future for the Camp Rock star. “I think in this moment, I want to adopt, for sure."

Lovato opened up even further, revealing to Rogan that she identifies as pansexual after coming to terms with her sexuality over the years. “I also don't know if I'm going to end up with a guy, so I can't really see myself even getting pregnant," she explained. "I don't know. I'm so fluid now, and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was super closeted off.”

The singer’s docuseries Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil is being released weekly on YouTube now, chronicling her 2018 overdose, the health issues that followed, and her 2020 engagement. While Lovato has undoubtedly had an eventful several years, she concluded to Rogan, “I'm not saying that I have it figured out, but I have made changes in my life that best suit me and my recovery and my journey and my growth.”
