Twenty-seven year old, Demi Lovato, has released another transparent music video to showcase her trials and tribulations. The single “I Love Me”, is a reflective single that speaks to the battle of insecurities and inner strength. On March 5th, an associating music video for the single was released, and fans are already playing it on repeat. With over 18 million views in a little over a week – it’s clear to see that many can relate to Lovato’s newest single.

On top of the beautiful lyrics, the video is jam packed with hints and clues of Lovato’s upbringing, encounters, and life experiences.

Some are painful to watch, due to their deeper meaning (such as a node to Lovato’s drug overdose back in 2016). Other moments, provide us with strength as Lovato battles her demons and rises up to love herself.

Revealing Her Truths

This star has always been one to be open and honest with her fans and listeners - her music is a gate-way into her current life situations (remember "Skyscraper" back in 2011). "I Love Me", in particular the music video, does just that - give fans and insight into her life and help expose her truths. Some painful points brought up in the video include:

- Lovato's drug overdose back in 2018

- Her inner anxiety with dueling mixed emotions, the 'good and bad' mindsets

- The hardships of lost love and pain in rejection

- Complications with past friendships and coworkers (in particular, The Jonas Brothers)

- Insecurities with her weight and body image

Reflecting on the Past

Many easter eggs in the music video, point out Lovato's past and the situations that brought her to this moment of time (both fame and hardships).

One of the most notable moments in the video, happens when Lovato is passing by a group of four young musicians bustling on the street. Three younger looking/long haired boys, and one girl rocking bangs and a purple shirt. If you remember anything about Lovato's signature movie (her true claim to Disney fame), Camp Rock, you'll notice this image depicts the movie's cover tremendously.

In addition to her early start with the Jonas Brothers on Camp Rock, the video highlights her falling out (a sweet - but internally sour relationship).

You may also notice Lovato passing a younger woman in a black bodysuit, this get-up is surprisingly similar to Lovato's outfits she wore while on tour (with the Jonas Brothers).

Not Forgetting Where Lovato Came From

In addition to Lovato's hints in the music video toward her fame upbringing, a small but sweet reference to her childhood can be seen as well.

In the video, a young mother with two cute girls in bandanas is seen walking the sidewalks. If you look at any of Lovato's childhood photos - both the two girls and the mother look shockingly similar to Demi and her family.

The other young girl (the eldest sister in the music video) is Dallas Lovato (32), Demi's older sister. In a tweet from Lovato's mother, Dianna De La Garza, even noted to the striking similarity between her and her two daughters Dallas and Demi.

Hopeful for the Future

While deeply reflective and personal, it's nice to know that the entire music video isn't completelty filled with hardships. In fact some moments, just like the lyrics themselves, focus on the positive moments in Lovato's life.

Some of these moments include:

- Lovato's deal with athleisure line, Fabletics - where she was able to design her own fashion line under the brand. Helping promote the beauty of ALL bodies.

- Her node to the practice of Brazilian jiu jitsu - where she has earned her second degree blue belt. After her overdose, Lovato picked up the practice for a positive piece of mind.
