High-fiber snacks are not just tasty but also highly advantageous for weight loss. These snacks promote a sense of fullness that lasts, curbing the temptation to overindulge and aiding in adherence to a nutritious diet. Foods rich in fiber also aid digestion and help keep blood sugar levels steady, essential for successful weight control.
On TikTok, Sarah Williams, MS, RDN, a creator and registered dietitian, recently highlighted a high-fiber snack to enhance digestive health as we start the new year. We also consulted with a number of health specialists to discover three more snack choices rich in fiber that can also assist with managing weight.
At the start of her video, the TikToker said: “Has your doctor or dietitian ever told you that you need more fiber in your diet? I’m about to show you a really simple snack that has 15g of fiber in it.” She went on, suggesting a mixing bowl or 2 vanilla Greek yogurt. “I don’t care what kind, but I prefer the high protein one,” she shared. Williams added: “You’re going to add 2 tablespoons of powdered peanut butter.” She noted that you could “also use regular peanut butter or nut butter, whatever you prefer.”
Next, she instructed to add “2 to 2 and 1/2 tablespoons of chia seeds and mix all of that together.” This, Williams explained, is about 11g of fiber. “Then, I’m going to add a medium apple to dip it in, and that’s about 4 to 5g depending on the kind,” she said. The dietitian also recommended trying the dip with bananas and strawberries. “You can do whatever your heart’s desire, because fruits are great for a fiber source,” she emphasized. “Getting in fiber doesn’t have to be hard.”
