A healthy diet is paramount for weight loss, but it doesn’t mean you have to give up on sweet treats. Finding the right balance is key, as it allows you to indulge while still progressing towards your goals. Ilana Muhlstein, a dietitian known as @nutritionbabe on TikTok, exemplifies this balance perfectly. During her 100-pound weight loss journey, she discovered a way to enjoy delicious sweets like chocolate banana crepes without compromising her progress.
Muhlstein emphasizes that enjoying sweets is entirely possible while shedding pounds. “On my 100-pound weight loss journey, I never stopped eating sweets. There’s nothing like a good chocolate banana crepe. But when I start with one, I find myself wanting ten. So in order to avoid a plateau, I had to make sure I was finding balance and getting in enough protein,” she explains. By tweaking her recipes to include more protein and fiber, she managed to stay on track while still enjoying her favorite foods. Find her recipe for healthy crepes below.

Health Benefits and Importance of Protein
Ilana Muhlstein's chocolate banana crepe recipe is not only delicious but also packed with health benefits. Quinoa flour is rich in protein and fiber, which help keep you feeling full longer, preventing overeating. Protein is essential for weight loss because it helps build and repair muscles, boosts metabolism, and promotes satiety.
Greek yogurt is another excellent source of protein and contains probiotics that aid digestion and support a healthy gut. By sweetening the filling with monk fruit, Ilana avoids the added sugars found in traditional sweeteners, making the crepes a healthier option.
As Ilana highlights, "With the higher protein and fiber, I was able to feel fuller longer and keep the same progress while still loving all of the food I was eating." This balance of enjoying tasty treats while maintaining a nutritious diet is key to sustainable weight loss.
