5 Discontinued Trader Joe’s Items You Probably Won’t See On Shelves Again In 2023 (Or Maybe Ever)
November 18, 2023 by Faith Geiger
Nothing lasts forever—even Trader Joe’s products. While we love trying out all the inventive new items that hit shelves from month to month, the sad part is when we have to say goodbye to some of our favorite things in order to make room for these newbies. Unfortunately, this is just proof that all good things must come to an end.
Below, we’re rounding up a few of the discontinued items that we may never see again, from delicious dips to frozen breakfast foods.
Trader Joe’s is no stranger to a great dip. This store has hummus, cheese dip, and salsas galore. But sadly, one that you won’t find on shelves anymore—in addition to the divisive Chocolate Hummus—is this delicious vegan queso dip. This 12-oz bowl of “cheesy” goodness was a perfect option for anyone who wanted to dip their chips in something dairy-free and delicious. We had to say goodbye to it in 2021, but not everyone was sad. Some shoppers were grateful to see it go, claiming it tasted terrible. Regardless, we’ll likely never see it on TJ’s shelves again.
Got a sweet tooth? Then you’d probably love this Fudge Sauce from Trader Joe’s. Sadly, though, you won’t see it in stores anymore. Whether it was drizzled on sundaes or used as fondue for marshmallows, fruit, and anything else under the sun, it was the perfect chocolatey treat to finish off a range of desserts. However, it vanished from shelves in 2022. Fans on Reddit mourned its departure. “Who at TJ’s was the stupid bonehead to sign off on the discontinuation??” one person wrote. RIP.
When you want to enjoy a savory snack without facing the health consequences of regular potato chips, sweet potato chips make a great healthy compromise—and Trader Joe’s used to have you covered in that area. Their tasty Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips were made using both sweet potatoes and white corn. They were healthy, versatile, and, most importantly, delicious. That’s why we’re so sad to say that you’re unlikely to find them in the snack aisle these days.
However, there are still plenty of tasty new snacks to choose from.
Who among us doesn’t get nostalgic when they think about eating a big bowl of Spaghetti-O’s as a child? Joe’s O’s were Trader Joe’s version of this tomato-y goodness. The twist was not only that this food was organic (making it a possibly more health-conscious alternative to the OG O’s) but also that it included cheese sauce in addition to the classic tomato, adding a seriously delicious layer. We’re sad this canned food it might be gone forever now and crossing our fingers it makes an unexpected comeback.
