First Netflix, now Disney! According to a recent email that was sent out to Canadian Disney+ subscribers, the streaming platform will soon start cracking down on password sharing. Say it ain’t so! Find all the details below.
If you’re like many people out there, you may share a Disney+ account between several households. For example, if you moved away from home to go to college, it’s not unlikely that you still use your family account to stream your favorite Disney movies. However, our password-sharing days are now numbered.“We’re implementing restrictions on your ability to share your account or login credentials outside of your household,” Disney’s email said. “You may not share your subscription outside of your household.”
In addition to this announcement, the company has now added a section to their Canadian subscriber agreement, labeled “account sharing,” which states that “unless otherwise permitted by your Service Tier, you may not share your subscription outside of your household.”
But what exactly qualifies as a “household,” anyway? According to the user agreement, your “household” refers to all of the devices used by people living at your primary personal residence. Which means that anyone who does not live under the same roof will soon have to start shelling out the money for their own account.
