Winter comes once a year, but it brings a lot of damage along with it—especially when it comes to your hair, skin and nails. Regardless of your hair type, you might notice that the cold weather has caused your locks to feel dry and brittle, leaving you with split ends, frizzy hair and breakage.

“The cold weather takes a toll on your hair and scalp, making it lose a ton of moisture and leaving it dry and dull. Not to mention, the low humidity weakens your locks and makes it susceptible to breakage and hair fall,” according to the skincare experts at Dermstore.

Thankfully, there are so many products and treatments available to help revive dry, damaged winter hair and get it back to looking shiny and healthy. If you don’t feel like splurging on new haircare products, you don’t have to! There are plenty of DIY hair masks you can try that will have the same effect on your locks—and most of them call for ingredients that are already in your kitchen. These at-home remedies will deliver nutrients and minerals to your hair, while also keeping it hydrated and protected from weather.
