After a few years of waiting (impatiently), comic book fans got to see Ant-Man and the Wasp (a.k.a Hope van Dyne) light up the screen together in this summer’s blockbuster hit, Ant-Man and the Wasp. And that can only mean one thing: it’s time to plan this year’s Halloween costume. A DIY Wasp costume can be made using affordable pieces, instead of breaking the bank like most action movie costumes.

After getting involved and then uninvolved with Ant-Man (a.k.a Scott Lang), played by Paul Rudd, Hope and her father open a portal in the quantum realm, which leads to Hope’s mother making contact with Lang.
Along the way, the film is packed with plenty of action and romance, including the Wasp kidnapping Lang, and Hope being given her Wasp suit from Pym—a particle-based suit that was intended to be worn by her mother. The suit is similar to the Ant-Man suit in that it allows Hope to shrink, but some might argue it’s even better: it has wings and “stingers,” which are two gauntlets that can fire bullets.
When you are recreating the Wasp’s costume at home, it’s important to remember it’s not designed to be an exact replica of the suit. With a few creative touches, you can pay homage to the Wasp without spending a lot of money. Here are some key pieces you’ll need.
