4 Foods Doctors Swear By To Get Rid Of Belly Fat

It's no secret that losing weight is hard. Losing weight can especially be difficult after you've already lost a good amount and can't seem to get over a weight loss hurdle. Luckily, doctors have foods that they recommend for burning belly fat. Read on to find out the four foods doctors recommend for finally getting that flat stomach.

1. Eggs

Robert Lustig, MD, MSL, tells Eat This, Not That!  that eggs can actually be your go-to weight loss food. "They have lots of high quality protein, especially tryptophan," Robert says. "Protein is satiating, and also you spend more energy converting it to a metabolite that can be burned, which aids in weight management." 

2. Nuts

Besides eggs, you can also turn to nuts to finally get rid of belly fat. Mehmet Oz, MD, tells Health that nuts are some of his favorite healthy foods. "Because nuts are high in fiber and protein, they’ll satiate you so you’ll never be hungry," Mehmet says. "Because of my Turkish culture, I grew up eating almonds that have been soaked in water first. I still do that. It makes them taste completely different—very sweet." 

3. Salmon

If you're in the mood for something more filling then you can opt for salmon. Dr. Ronald Hoffman says salmon is a great source of lean protein and also provides you with healthy fats such as fish oil. He recommends a salad and salmon diet for ultimate weight loss results. 

4. Yogurt

Last but not least, yogurt is actually a great food for weight loss--as long as it's non-flavored yogurt. You can choose healthy yogurts, such as Greek yogurt, to promote good gut health thanks to probiotics found in yogurt. Dr. Mike Roussell tells Shape, "Greek yogurt is an easy way to add more protein to your diet, so when it comes to fat-free vs. full-fat Greek yogurt, just choose the variety that fits your diet and satisfies your taste buds."
