Donald Trump Faces Assassination Attempt
The former president was golfing at his golf club in Florida on Sunday when a gunman was spotted by US Secret Service agents. The gunman, 56-year-old Ryan Routh, was hiding in the bushes a few holes away from where Trump was golfing with An AK-style rifle. There was about 400 yards between Routh and Trump when the muzzle of the gun was spotted sticking out of the shrubbery.
One Secret Service agent opened fire on Routh, who then dropped the rifle without firing any shots and fled the scene in an SUV, leaving behind the gun and two backpacks. He was, however, apprehended in a neighboring county by law enforcement and is in custody of the police.
Donald Trump Blames Kamala Harris & Joe Biden
Now, Trump is speaking on the incident, and is blaming the current president and vice president. He said in an interview with Fox News that the arrested suspect, who is a registered Republican, "believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it."
"Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country—both from the inside and out," he continued. "They do it with a combination of rhetoric and lawsuits they wrap me up in. These are the things that the dangerous fools, like the shooter, listen to—that is the rhetoric they listen to, and the same with the first one."
This is surprising, coming from a man who often uses vulgar and violent rhetoric to verbally attack his political opponents. Joe Biden and president-hopeful Kamala Harris both also had no involvement in the numerous lawsuits that Trump has been involved in since his term as president ended.
