Donald Trump has made false claims in the past, but has he taken it a step too far? The Republican presidential nominee took to social media over the weekend to falsely claim that Vice President Kamala Harris, the new presumed Democratic nominee, used artificial intelligence (AI) to fabricate images of crowd sizes at her rallies. Users on X, formerly Twitter, are claiming that this is evidence Donald Trump is “losing it.” Keep reading for more information.

Donald Trump Claims Kamala Harris Used AI For Campaign Photos

On Sunday, Kamala Harris posted photos from the first week of her and her vice presidential pick, Tom Walz's campaign trail. Their first stops included Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada, and they documented their events with photos that were posted to Kamala's Instagram account. The photos show large crowds with many attendees holding up blue "Harris Walz" signs.

Donald Trump, however, thinks these images are doctored by AI, writing on Truth Social, "Has anyone noticed that Kamala CHEATED at the airport? There was nobody at the plane, and she 'A.I.'d' it, and showed a massive 'crowd' of so-called followers, BUT THEY DIDN'T EXIST!"

"She was turned in by a maintenance worker at the airport when he noticed the fake crowd picture, but there was nobody there, later confirmed by the reflection of the mirror like finish on the Vice Presidential plane," he continued. "She's a CHEATER. She had NOBODY waiting, and the 'crowd' looked like 10,000 people! Same thing is happening with her fake 'crowds' at her speeches. This is the way the Democrats with Elections, by CHEATING - And they're even worse at the Ballot Box. She should be disqualified because the creation of an fake image is ELECTION INTERFERNCE. Anyone who does that will cheat at ANYTHING!"

Trump's post promotes a false conspiracy theory that is now being spread by Republican commentators, despite the Harris campaign responding that it is "an actual photo of a 15,000-person crowd for Harris-Walz in Michigan. Other sources, including CNBC, also licensed a Getty Images photo for a news story on the topic, and the photo matches the Instagram post from Kamala Harris.

Twitter Criticizes Trump For False Claims

Social media users, particular those on Twitter, called out Trump for promoting false claims and spreading misinformation. "Trump is losing it," one person tweeted. "He's just a plain, sick, sick man who believes his own nonstop lies."

"Trump is getting even more and more desperate!" another person replied.

"Rocket science isn't required to understand that Trump's obsession with crowd size is not normal," another person wrote. "His lies have become more abnormal even."

"He needs to be institutionalized," another added.

"The whole AI nonsense is so embarrassing from the pro-Trump crowd," one person wrote. "It makes them look petulant and childish. Why not focus on policy and getting Trump elected instead of running with ridiculous claims that are easily debunked?"

"He's brainwashed millions of Americans," a final person tweeted. "He needs to be stopped."
