Donald Trump is being slammed on X, formerly Twitter, for his “relentlessly stupid” claims of magnets not working underwater. His rant took place in Iowa during a campaign event, and now users on X are ripping him apart for his uneducated claims. Keep reading for more information.

Donald Trump Claims Magnets Don’t Work Underwater

The topic of magnets came up as Trump was discussing electric catapults and magnetic elevator systems for U.S. aircraft carriers. He concluded the odd rant by saying, “All I know about magnets is this, give me a glass of water, let me drop it on the magnets, that’s the end of magnets.”

Magnets, in fact, work underwater and are not affected at all by the presence of water. It seems as though the former president got magnetic fields and electrical circuits confused.

X Users Slam Donald Trump

Many people have taken to social media to mock Trump over his ignorant claims. MSNBC’s Larence O’Donnell called his comment “relentlessly stupid,” and the tweet itself was marked with a community note letting viewers know that Trump’s claims are incorrect.

“If you’re worried about your president being senile or out of it, this is totally the guy to vote for in November,” one user wrote on X.

“Donald Trump said that magnets don’t work in water, that no one would know how Lincoln was if we hadn’t had a Civil War & that there were airports during the Revolutionary War, all while bragging about being able to identify an elephant correctly,” another user wrote. “Because he’s a f***ing moron.”

“You know I think this is going to make it hard for them to argue Biden is mentally unfit,” another person tweeted.

“Yep. Trump should definitely have nuclear codes and access to classified documents,” another user wrote.

“He’s losing it,” added another.

“If Biden said something this dumb,” a final fan commented. “Fox would pronounce him brain-dead.”
