Donald Trump is being mocked on social media (not for the first time, and we predict it won’t be the last!) for seemingly not knowing the name of the country he was the president of from January 2017 to January 2021. Or at least that’s how it looked…

In a recent video which saw him attack President Joe Biden yet again, while also complaining about his seemingly endless legal woes, the 77-year-old former president said something interesting about the name of the USA, which made it seem like he didn’t already know its name. Is this one of the strangest things the indicted former president has said? The competition is stiff, but it’s certainly up there!

Donald Trump Seems To Forget The Name Of The USA

"We're gonna have a great country. It's gonna be called the United States of America," Trump said, in reference to his thoughts on the country's future if he wins next year's election. This seems to suggest that he may have forgotten that the country is already called the United States of America.

Another interesting, shall we say, comment about the name of the country came just one week earlier. Speaking in New Hampshire, Trump said he only recently noticed that the abbreviation for the United States is "us," before proceeding to say that he probably won't get the credit for noticing it and bringing it to people's attention.

"I just picked that up. Has anyone ever thought of that? I just picked that up," he said, before adding: "Now, if we say something genius, they'll never say it. They've never said, 'Trump's a great speaker.'"

Twitter Destroys Donald Trump

As expected, social media exploded with comments. "Who wants to tell him?" the 'Republicans against Trump' Twitter account @RpsAgainstTrump wrote on the platform, now called X, alongside the now-viral video, which understandably got a lot of likes from likeminded Republicans against Trump. "Trump promises to invent a country called the 'United States of America.' Someone should inform him it already exists," wrote another person, again, alongside the video, to which another replied, "He was the president? Really?"

"I hope we have that term trademarked. Otherwise Trump will grab it and start charging all of us," quipped another user, to which one replied, "I think he misspoke: what he meant was the United States of Trump!" and another added, "Don't give him any ideas." "Oh man, thanks for the chuckle... I needed that... kudos..." replied another.
