Donald Trump's Plans For 3rd Term
Trump was participating in a phone interview with NBC News on March 30th when the topic of running for a third time was brought up. "A lot of people want me to do it," he said. "But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it's very early in the administration...I'm not joking. But I'm not—it is far too early to even think about it."
According to the 22nd Amendment, a president cannot be elected to more than two terms—there's really no other way of interpreting this law. Yet according to Trump, "there are methods" by which is could happen, though he did not elaborate on this during the interview.
Social Media Reactions
Rightfully, this terrified many Americans, who immediately took to social media to share their thoughts. "This? What he's saying right here?" one person wrote on X, formerly twitter. "It's called a dictatorship."
"...is he aware...that this is unconstitutional...like quite literally?" another person asked.
"He is literally telling us he wants to be a dictator," another user agreed. "Why are we not hearing this? Why are we not doing something about this?"
"Trump was never joking about a third term," a final user posted. "He's simply socializing the idea as the final step in taking total control over our government. Trump is implementing Project 2025 to become a dictator like Putin. It is time we all open our eyes to what is happening."
