Who is Jonathan Miller and why did he leak videos?
Jonathan Miller is an attorney representing Misty Hampton, former election official, and confessed to County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee that he was the one who leaked the videos. He claims that he acted in his client's best interest. "This is one of the biggest cases the country has had, and that transparency is very important," he says.
"In being transparent with the court," he continued, "and to make sure that nobody else gets blamed for what happened, and so I can go to sleep well tonight, judge, I did release those videos to one outlet."
However, Miller has not yet spoken on how he saw leaking those videos as beneficial to Ms. Hampton. He did however say, "to hide those proffers, that show all the underlying things that went into those please, it misleads the public about what's going on."
Leaked video shows Trump lawyer admitting Trump wouldn't leave White House
The leaked videos are reportedly helping the prosecutors' case against Trump—not a good sign for the former president. One of the incriminating leaked videos is of Jenna Ellis's proffer. In the clip, she recalls a conversation she had with Dan Scavino, former White House deputy chief of staff, in December 2020 about Trump having to leave the White House after losing the election.
"And [Scavino] said to me," Ellis spoke, "in a kind of excited tone, 'Well, we don't care, and we're not going to leave.' And I said, 'What do you mean?' And he said, 'Well, the boss,' meaning President Trump, 'the boss is not going to leave under any circumstances.'"
And if that doesn't paint a bad picture, Scavino's reported next sentence makes it even worse: Ellis said the former chief of staff told her, "We are just going to stay in power."
She replied, "'Well, it doesn't quite work that way, you realize?' and he said, 'We don't care.'" This is really not a good look for Trump, who continues to maintain his innocence.
Second Trump lawyer admits to 'supporting' Trump's intentions of staying in power
Another leaked video shows Sidney Powell's proffer video. Powell is another former attorney for Trump, and in the clip, she says that he did not believe Trump lost the 2020 election, and thought she could help him remain president. When asked why the former president listened to her legal advice instead of his White House counsel's advice, Powell said, "Because we were the only ones willing to support his effort to sustain the White House. I mean, everybody else was telling him to pack up and go."
She also said that she had been in the room when White House staffers told Trump that he lost the election, which proves that Trump was well informed of the accuracy of the election results, helping prosecutors to build their case further.
