Donald Trump may be feeling the chill when it comes to any hopes of warm family support.
Despite being booked Thursday at Fulton County Jail in Georgia on over a dozen charges related to attempts to reverse the states 2020 election results, the other major members of the Trump family—wife Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka Trump, and son-in-law Jared Kushner—have all remained mum on the most recent updates in the case, with none coming out in public support of the patriarch since the official arrest.
These seemingly cool actions follow a pattern of behavior that’s been established since the former president mounted his 2024 re-election campaign, with none of the big-named Trumps joining him on the campaign trail or discussing White House plans for a possible second term.
Donald Trump Arrested At Georgia Jail On Thursday; Released On Bond
Former president Donald Trump voluntarily turned himself in on Thursday night at Fulton County Jail in Georgia on felony charges stemming from the results of the 2020 election. He left fairly soon after the same evening, once his mug shot was taken and he had officially posted his $200,000 bond.
In an interview soon after the arrest with television network Newsmax, he detailed his experience being booked at Fulton County. "I came in, I was treated very nicely," Trump told host Greg Kelly. "But it is what it is. I took a mug shot. I never heard the words 'mug shot'; that wasn't—they didn't teach me that at the Wharton School of Finance." The former president added, "It’s a very sad experience, and it’s a very sad day. For me, this is a weaponized Justice Department."
Notably, no members of the Trump family, including the presidential candidate's wife Melania nor daughter and former senior advisor Ivanka, were present at the arrest to show support for the Trump family patriarch. This has led to media calls to the family members asking for their input on the complicated legal situation, with Newsweek writing, "Where is Melania?"
Ivanka Distanced Self From Dad After Jan. 6; Melania Does The Same
Though there has been some recent speculation that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are considering getting involved in father Donald's re-election campaign, the eldest Trump daughter previously announced in November 2022 that she would not take part in her father's campaign nor resulting administration should he be re-elected. "I love my father very much," said the former White House adviser in a statement. "This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics."
The former First Daughter continued, "While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and I will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments."
Melania, for her part, has not been seen at any of The Donald's campaign events since he announced his reelection bid in November 2020, but did tell Fox News of the renewed campaign, "My husband achieved tremendous success in his first administration, and he can lead us toward greatness and prosperity once again." She has released no statement or comment regarding her husband's recent arrest and booking, nor any indication why she or any other family members were not present to show support.
