In texts released by the January 6th committee investigating Donald Trump‘s actions (or lack thereof) during the 2021 Capitol insurrection, it was recently revealed that Hope Hicks (former top adviser to the then-president) had a telling exchange with Ivanka Trump’s chief of staff, Julie Radford.

In the messages sent between the two women on that day, Hicks expressed her concerns for her job due to Trump’s unpredictable and chaotic behavior and the violent riots occurring at the same time.

“In one day he ended every future opportunity that doesn’t include speaking engagements at the local proud boys chapter,” Hicks said, appearing to refer to Trump. Radford replied, “Yup.”

Hicks then sent, “And all of us that didn’t have jobs lined up will be perpetually unemployed.” She went on, “I’m so mad and upset. We all look like domestic terrorists now.”

Other Takeaways From The Text Exchange

When chatting with Redford, Hicks also appeared to mention Alyssa Farah Griffin (former Trump communications director who resigned from the White House in December 2020) writing that she “looks like a genius.”

Hicks also texted Radford about Stephanie Grisham’s resignation (she served as the former first lady Melania Trump’s chief of staff) when the Capitol attack ocurred, and Radford seemed to criticize this move, deeming it to be “self serving.”

They also conversed about Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump’s in-law Karlie Kloss. After the supermodel called out Trump in multiple tweets on Jan. 6, 2021 for refusing to accept the 2020 election results, Hicks shared these tweets with Radford, who dubbed them to be “unreal.”

This text exchange between Hicks and Radford, NBC News reports, is “included in the release of documents after the committee released its formal report late last month.” In its report, the committee detailed more evidence that “Trump oversaw a multipart effort to overturn the results of an election he knew he lost, which culminated in his supporters’ storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 in a push to block the counting of the electoral votes that would certify Joe Biden’s victory,” the outlet notes.

The report also came after the panel “unanimously voted to recommend that the Justice Department pursue criminal charges against Trump over his role in the attack and his efforts to upend the 2020 election,” as the publication points out.
