Donald Trump’s long list of legal involvements just got longer. Trump’s lawyer recently revealed that the former president was “absolutely” aware that not complying with a subpoena was a criminal offense months before he was charged with violating it, opening him up to criminal prosecution. The lawyer in question, Jennifer Little, says she advised Trump in March of 2022 to comply with the government’s demands to return the classified materials he kept in his Mar-A-Lago home. Keep reading for more information.

Will Trump be prosecuted?

Special counsel Jack Smith alleged in Trump's June 2023 indictment that Trump knowingly defied the subpoena by not handing over all of the classified documents in his possession. Jennifer Little's revelation that Trump was "absolutely" aware that disobeying the subpoena was a crime backs up Smith's allegations, and could make Trump eligible for criminal prosecution.

Trump currently faces 40 criminal counts on these allegations. Trump, Smith, and Little have all declined to comment on the recent revelation, but we will be avidly following the case to see what happens to Mr. Trump, especially in regards to his 2024 presidential campaign.
