There’s nothing nicer than getting your nails done. A trip to the nail salon can leave you and your nails feeling refreshed, pampered, and relaxed.

Even if you don’t get your nails done all the time, it’s always a good feeling to have your nails painted and looking nice.

But, having your nails painted all the time isn’t as good for your nails as you think it may be. There’s a scary downside to always having nail polish on your nails and it could really be damaging your nails.
Sure, your nails look good when they’re painted, but you’re actually hurting them with your nail polish. “The truth is that painting your nails is like coating them with a medley of toxins,” says Dr. Michael Roizen, M.D. “In fact, nail polish is likely the most toxic cosmetic there is.” Not only are these harmful ingredients bad for your nails and making them weaker, but they’re also bad to breathe in too.
I’m sure you’re not going to stop painting your nails, but just be cautious about how frequently you’re keeping your nails painted. Give your nails a week or so in between changing colors to let them breathe and regain their strength.
