Another A-lister seeking sartorial inspiration from the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party red carpet is Drew Barrymore, as the 48-year-old actress looked incredible in a gothic black lace gown at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C on Sunday, March 19th, at an event honoring Adam Sandler, who became the 24th recipient of the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Adam, 56, and Drew first worked together in the 1998 classic, The Wedding Singer, and again in 2004 for the movie, 50 First Dates, and more recently in Frank Coraci’s 2014 rom-com Blended. And although the comedian was the star of the event, the Santa Clarita Diet actress certainly pulled focus on the red carpet!

Drew Barrymore Stuns In Gothic Needle And Thread Gown

The Charlie's Angels star took a break from the conventional smart-casual style she displays on her The Drew Barrymore Show on CBS, and went for something darker and more gothic, choosing a breathtaking floor-length black Needle and Thread 'Primrose' off-the-shoulder lace gown, featuring an exaggerated satin bow at the front, which seemed to extend from the halterneck front, and a tiered tulle skirt. We don’t know if it’s the floral lace, the bow, or a combination of both, but the dress managed to look both dark and gothic yet soft and romantic all at the same time!

The Never Been Kissed star accessorized with a waist-cinching patent black belt, a metallic clutch bag, and some stunning bow-detailed statement earrings. She kept her makeup soft and natural, which we also think helps in making the dress feel more romantic, while her hair was worn in glamorous curls.

Drew Barrymore Gushes About Adam Sandler

At the star-studded event – which will be shown on CNN on March 26th – also attended by Jennifer Aniston, Pete Davidson, Ben Stiller, and Idina Menzel, among so many others, including Adam's wife, Jackie Sandler, Drew made a small but emotional speech about the honoree.

"Every award that was ever created on the planet should go to Adam because he's a national treasure, and he's been keeping us laughing," Drew gushed in a speech given by her and Jennifer Aniston, who is currently promoting Murder Mystery 2, which she stars in alongside Sandler. "And we get to watch him evolve and explore his own range as an actor and a comedian — but just as a human being, he's the best person, so everybody roots for him."

Drew also continued her praise in an interview with the Associated Press on the red carpet, saying, "I just saw a charm and a talent," when she first met him, adding that she was "magnetically" drawn to him. "So much of what any romantic comedy or film should have is that ultimate authentic chemistry," she continued. "Which is not because you need to be together, but you have to love that person that much. And that's how I felt about him." Aww!
