Drew Barrymore has faced her fair share of criticism these past few years, with the internet taking offence to several things such as her comments about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s infamous trial, and working during last year’s writers’ strike.
And the 50 First Dates alum has been slammed online once again, this time because of her “cringe” interview with Vice President Kamala Harris on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Drew Barrymore Interviews Kamala Harris
The cringe-worthy moment took place when the mom-of-two asked Harris if she could become a mother to the country. "I've been thinking that we really all need a tremendous hug in the world right now," Barrymore began, adding: "But in our country, we need you to be Mamala of the country."
Harris laughed after Barrymore had finished speaking, and nodded her head repeatedly. She then replied: "Yeah. I mean, yeah, no, I know.”

Internet Reactions
This exchange was mocked throughout social media, with author Oli London writing on X: "Drew Barrymore participates in cringe worthy and fawning display with Kamala Harris." Canadian professor Gad Saad replied: "Is this possible? Could a society delve into such an infantile orgy of mediocrity that this is considered compelling?" Another X user added, "My cringe meter has finally been broken," while someone else wrote: "This was pretty nauseating."
The mocking comments continued over on Instagram, with one user saying: "She's so cringe," and another concurring: "So fake and cringe." A third wrote: "Drew is so embarrassing." "I wish I could filter all Drew Barrymore out of my feed," commented another.

Many more fans mocked the Santa Clarita Diet alum's interview technique. "This is the biggest ick," slammed another Instagram user, as someone else quipped, "Drew Barrymore is always trying to crawl inside people... It's yak." "Exactly!" exclaimed another, in agreement, adding, "Holding their hands, kneeling in front of them. What's she smoking?" followed by the crying laughing emoji. "Is anyone creeped out by the unsolicited level of intimacy she displays? If toxic positivity was a thing…" wrote another.
"Mamala does not look interested," commented another user, also followed by the crying laughing emoji. "Imagine you were just trying to do your job and people are telling you to be the mom of the country and hug the world," wrote another. "Yeah… she has gotten a little too cringey. I don't watch her anymore," said another Instagram user, as another added: "This is truly vomit inducing."
